Cherry Creek Wanderings

Cherry Creek State Park is one of my favorite places to go if I'm in need of a quick escape to the outdoors. It's (at most) 7 minutes from my apartment and has everything I could ever want. From hammock spots and great trails in the summer, to snowshoeing in the winter. I love it here.

On MLK Jr. Day, I was supposed to go hiking but a surprise snowstorm made that plan obsolete, my car couldn't handle that pressure. I still felt like I needed to get outside, though, and decided Cherry Creek was the only option. I laced up my new boots and (safely) made it to the park. The man working the entrance was very excited to see me, and told me that I was the only person he'd seen come in since 9 am. That was exactly what I was hoping - a quiet, snowy day, all to myself.

I just set off wandering, I didn't have a plan of where I was going to go or how long I was going to be out there. I ended up walking about 2.5 miles, only passing one other person the whole time I was out there. It was wonderful.

New boots, who dis? (HA)

I talked to this little birdy for a little bit longer than what is probably considered sane - I was just so worried about him and wanted to make sure he was staying warm!

I love my new boots and I'm glad to get the change to break them in before we go snowshoeing (hopefully sometime soon!)
